Windmill Stables of Spring Park has some of the most beautiful horses around Dallas and they were kind enough to allow me to stop by and photograph them.

Owens Spring Creek Farm
An absolutely beautiful day in Texas inspired me to get out and explore. One of my destinations was the always nostalgic Owens Spring Creek Farm located in Richardson. Of course, the visit makes you feel like a third grader on a field trip, but sometimes that is exactly what you need. Heck, get a little crazy and go for a hay ride if you feel like it.
Pilot Point and Tioga, Texas
I have to admit, I was very excited to venture into the towns of Pilot Point and Tioga, Texas. Why? Well, because I’ve been told this area of Texas is known as horse country, and let’s face it, I do love horses. Along the eastern edges of Lake Ray Robert there are countless green fields that are home to these beautiful creatures. Many farms and ranches allow visitors if you phone in advance. One of my first stops was the Knights End Performance Horses, the home of A Good Machine, who is a quarter horse stallion, not to mention a Multiple World and Reserve World Champion Sire. http://www.knightsendperformancehorses.com
Further down the road I saw a wonderful ranch with stunning horses. I couldn’t help but grab a couple of photos of them.
Don’t forget about the cows…
Interesting fact: Tioga, Texas is the birthplace of Gene Autry. Next, I headed south and made my way to downtown Pilot Point, which had a lot of character and can see why the city was hand picked by Warren Beatty to shoot scenes on location for the film Bonnie and Clyde.
Llano, Texas
In and around downtown Llano, Texas there are a number of interesting stores selling everything from art, jewelry, clothing, books, antiques and even a great cup of Joe at Fuel Coffee House. Llano is in the hills of the Texas Hill Country which provides very nice scenery on your drive in and out of town.
